Some New News To Tell

On Wednesday I went tho my doctors appointment in Roseville with Dr. Rivera. Before I saw him I had to have an ecocardiogram and an EKG. When I saw him he told us that I was healing just fine and that I can go back to normal activity gradually. I can go swimming and stop taking the medicine that make me have to go pee a lot. Ya!!!!!!! I have to take the blood thinner for a little while longer but I have to take the blood pressure medicine for a long time. The pain I have is normal which is good. I think that is all, but if I'm wrong I'll post what I forgot. Today I stared to draw my niece, Emma. I work on her for about an hour and a half. Her older brother, my nephew, is coming over today to spend the night. I also get to go to the dance tomorrow. I can't wait!!

Surprise!! Suprise!!

It all started about 3 months ago when I wanted to play softball. Tryouts were soon so i had to get a physical fast. My mom had to make an appointment in Lincon because it was such short notice. I went to my appointment expecting it to be just a normal check up and that nothing was wrong. Boy was I wrong. They heard a murmur. Me, someone who has never had anything wrong with me. At first I didn't know what a murmur was, but I knew it wasn't good. We were so surprised. They did an EKG and a x-ray. They said a cardiologist would call. He called and said that it was most likely nothing and made an appointment with me and my mom. We went to Roseville and when Dr. Rivera saw me he said that he knew what the problem was. He said it was because I am tall and skinny and that it was nothing. He listened to my heart and it was something. He said that the left side of my heart was enlarged and that the murmur was covering something else up. I had to have a lady do an ecocardiogram on me. Dr. Rivera called up and said that my mitro valve prolapsed which was causing me to not get enough blood. He said he usually doesn't suggest surgery after one visit, but I needed it. My surgery was to take place in San Fransisco because they were better at children heart surgeries. We went down to San Fransisco to meet with my surgeon for a consultation. Dr. Azakie told us that he was going to try to fix my valve, but if he couldn't I would have to pick between a pig valve or a mechanical valve. They had their positives and their negatives. He said that they were going to have to open me up and my ribs. The only thing left was when. All this was happening in about a month. I was at school on the 15 of March when out of the clear blue sky i got an early dismissal from my dad saying I was sick. I had no idea what was going on. I left and got in the car and my dad said that I was having surgery the next day. I didn't believe him because he sometimes gets confused, but when I got my mom told me the same thing. She had gotten a call from a nurse that they had an opening tomorrow morning. They said that because I had such good insurance that I could spend the night there. They asked my mom how soon I could be there. So my mom, Mary, and I left for San Fransisco. I spent the night there and the next morning, March 16th, I had open heart surgery. I don't remember the first day that well, but i had lots of visitors. On the 19th I had my chest tubes taken out which hurt really bad, but that's ok, they needed to come out. I also received a special gift that day. The days seemed to blurr together. They said I would probably be in the ICU for a day or two, but I was there most of the week. I left the hospital on the 22 of March. Oh Happy Day!!!!!!! I have to not lift or pull or push anything for 8 weeks. Those 8 weeks end this Sunday, but I will still have to be careful not to strain myself. I am now at home not able to go to school until next year, but that is alright. I have a teacher who comes Monday and Thursday. I have blood tests on Monday. It can get boring, but there isn't much I can do about that. I have an appointment with Dr. Rivera on Wednesday. I have been going to the chiropracter and Dr. Fowers says that one of my ribs is off so that is why I have some pain. I love being home and I am glad to have this done and over with. Thanks to all those who visited me and wrote me cards and notes and to those who called to see how I was doing.
